We recommend that you fly into Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) located in Arlington, VA. The DCA airport is approximately 63 miles from Lusby, MD and Solomons Island, MD. Typically, it takes approximately 90 minutes to travel from the DCA airport to Calvert and St. Mary's Counties in MD. Optionally, you may fly into the Thurgood Marshall Baltimore International Airport (BWI). The BWI airport is approximately 73 miles from the Lusby/Solomon, MD area, but is still an estimated 90 minute drive in traffic.

Despite being winter, the beach and waterfront properties are really beautiful around Christmas with the lights, holiday decorations, and boats in the harbor. Because Lusby, MD and Solomons, MD are waterfront communities on the Chesapeake Bay, we recommend that you consider staying at a nearby hotel, bed and breakfast, or rental property on the beach/lake in: *Lusby, MD; *Solomons, MD; *California, MD; *Lexington Park, MD, or *Hollywood, MD. If you would like to stay in an area that is a little more urban or like a suburb, we recommend that you stay in California, MD or Lexington Park, MD at a chain-branded hotel. In terms of hotels, there are small hotels such as the Courtyard Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn by Hilton, and Fairfield Inn by Marriott near the Chesapeake Hills Golf Club. Most of these hotels are new or have been renovated. You can also google the distance from the location that you are considering to the wedding venue. The address is: Chesapeake Hills Golf Club 11352 H G Trueman Rd, Lusby, MD 20657 Our families and wedding party have mostly rented very affordable waterfront homes, cottages, and apartments on the beach or lake. These prices seem to be reasonable and properties typically sleep 4 to 10+ persons. Since this is a heavy tourist area with a naval air station and major defense companies' presence 60 miles from Washington, DC, there are lots of nice rentals. As a reminder, if you have booked a hotel in Quantico, VA/Stafford VA area, you should be able to cancel without penalty at this point. You may also wish to consider making a weekend of it and staying at a rental together on the beach or lakefront with a friend or someone you know who is also attending the wedding.

There is free parking onsite at Chesapeake Hills Golf Club. Both the wedding ceremony and reception will take place at Chesapeake Hills.

Although we look forward to you joining us on our special day, the Chesapeake Golf Clubhouse's main hall is limited in capacity, especially since we plan to incorporate a dance floor. Therefore, we will be unable to accommodate requests for extra guests not on the guest lists. Please message us if you have questions.

Guests should arrive at 12:45 pm ET to ensure that you have time to park and walk the short distance to the Clubhouse to be seated by 1:15 pm ET. Once the wedding ceremony begins promptly at 1:30 pm ET, guests will not be able to enter the wedding hall until the conclusion of the ceremony and the beginning of the cocktail hour.

Yes, the wedding ceremony and reception are in the same venue. There are no stairs and the distance from the parking lot to the Clubhouse is a short walk. Please also feel free to wear or bring comfortable shoes with you. We hope to see you on the dance floor.

Yes, there will be a coat and hat check at no cost to you. If you plan to check your coat or hat, please arrive no later than 12:45 pm ET to give yourself time to walk from he parking lot, check these items, and be seated by 1:15 pm ET. Optionally, you may keep your coat or hat with you and check them at the end of the ceremony or at the beginning of the cocktail hour.

Yes, you must receive an invitation to the wedding either digitally or a paper copy from Sonya and/or Will to attend. You and all guests must also RSVP or send your regrets regarding attending the wedding and ceremony no later than Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:59 pm Eastern. This will allow us to properly plan for your arrival.

DC/MD area Metro Stations: From DCA and Union Station, it is possible to take the metro train to Branch Avenue or Suitland/Silver Hills Metro Stations. Once there, you must then take a shuttle or bus to Lusby, Solomons, or Hollywood, MD. Unless you are very familiar with the DC Metro Stations, we do not recommend taking the DC Metro as a travel option. Roundtrip travel from airports and train stations: There are travel shuttle services for Southern Maryland that will transport you from the Reagan National Airport, AmTrak Union Station, and BWI Airports to the Lusby, Solomons, California, and Lexington Park, MD areas. You must book the shuttle services in advance via phone, the shuttle services ' website, or using a tablet/phone app. Also, Uber Reserve allows you to book up to 90 days in advance for roundtrip service from DCA or the BWI airport to the Lusby, Solomons, and California, MD area. You must use the "UberX" app on your laptop/computer to book and it is recommended that you have reservations at least 48 hours in advance of pick-up. A typical UberX ride from the airport to Lusby, Solomons, or California, MD one-way is $125 to $150. You will pay approximately the same amount on the return to the airport. Therefore, shop around and compare shuttle services and Uber estimated rates. See the travel section for more information. Local area bus, car services, and shuttle transportation around Lusby, MD; Solomons, MD, and California, MD: There is also a free public bus/shuttle transportation service to travel limited distances around St. Mary's and Calvert Counties to shopping centers. These bus/shuttle cover limited areas to assist individuals in getting to the market, town centers, nearby work, and medical appointments. You can also use the UberX app on your phone or tablet/computer to book a car service to get around town from restaurants to your local hotel, and shopping centers. You can use the app 24/7 to book a ride future ride anytime. I recommend that you reserve your Uber X rides as far in advance as possible, preferably 24 to 48 hours each way in advance. An 18-minute ride in Calvert County/St. Mary's County is approximately $25. Local Rental Car Companies: Some visitors book a roundtrip airport shuttle to Lusby, Solomons, California, or Lexington Park, MD. They then rent a car to tour the local area and get around. Some of these local rental car services will deliver the car directly to you. If you are flying or taking the train into Washington DC, optionally, you may wish to rent a vehicle at the airport or train station. Many of the chain-brand rental car services will provide transportation from the DCA airport terminal to the rental car facility. See the travel section for more information.

The Chesapeake Hills Golf Club is near one of the local police and fire department stations. Although we do not anticipate any issues in which we will need fire, police, or ambulance services. All 3 are located nearby, and there are 2 local hospitals in the area.

Guests cannot bring beverages or food to the Clubhouse. The exception would be someone who has special health and medical needs.

Please dress in cocktail or nice attire, and there will be a small place to hang or check your coat and hat. Again, I encourage individuals to wear comfortable shoes or to bring comfortable shoes to change into at some point in the evening. Additionally, for those of you who know me, know that I have no problem with pairing a formal suit and sneakers.
